Nutrition Coaching for Carers

I want to help you care for your elder confidently

We want our elders to age with dignity and to continue as valued members of our family and society. They may live with us or we may be supporting them to remain independent in their own home.

Nutrition is a key part of their care.

But it may not be quite as simple as getting more of one macronutrient like protein. Food is more than just nutrition. It holds our culture, values, history and relationships.

Dietary changes need to be meaningful and enjoyable, and not just clinical good practice. This challenge alone can make nutrition care complicated!

You know your elder best, but there can be many pieces of the puzzle to get right. Let me help you with the nutrition piece.

Whether you are an adult child watching out for your aging parent(s), or a full time carer looking after a parent or spouse, my expertise and support can help you make nutrition decisions with confidence.

I help by offering:

  • To help solve specific nutrition concerns or challenges, such as poor appetite, weight loss, constipation/diarrhea, difficulty with chewing or swallowing.

  • Nutrition education for chronic health conditions such as dysphagia, diabetes, COPD, heart disease, diarrhoea and constipation, dementia, and Parkinson’s, as well as others.

  • To walk you through the nutrition challenges your parent is facing, help you develop a strategy, and share resources that will help you meet those challenges with confidence

  • Meal plans for your elder based on their preferences and needs

  • Inclusive family meal ideas that consider everyone’s preferences.
